Silicon Wafer Grades & Specifications
We provide a wide variety of silicon wafers tailored to specific applications. Whether you need Prime Grade for active device fabrication or Test/Monitor Grade for equipment calibration, we have stock available.
Crystal Growth: CZ vs. FZ
Understanding the growth method is critical for your application:
- Czochralski (CZ): Grown in a quartz crucible. Contains interstitial oxygen which improves mechanical strength. Standard for ICs and MEMS.
- Float Zone (FZ): Grown without a crucible. Extremely high purity, low oxygen, and high resistivity. Ideal for power devices, RF applications, and detectors.
Wafer Orientation
Wafers are cut to specific crystal orientations, typically <100> for MOSFETs and general applications, or <111> for bipolar devices. Flats or notches on the wafer edge indicate the orientation and doping type.

Super-Thin Silicon
We supply wafers thinned to 5µm, 10µm, 25µm, 50µm, and 100µm. These are essential for flexible electronics, advanced packaging, and through-silicon via (TSV) applications. View Ultra-Thin Inventory.
Thin Films & Coatings
We offer in-house deposition services to save you processing time:
- Thermal Oxide: Wet or Dry oxide up to 10µm thick.
- Nitride (Si3N4): LPCVD (Stoichiometric, Low Stress) and PECVD.
- Metals: Sputtered or Evaporated films including Au, Pt, Ti, Al, Cu, Cr, Ni, and ITO.
Silicon-on-Insulator (SOI)
SOI wafers feature a thin silicon device layer separated from the handle wafer by a buried oxide (BOX) layer. They are critical for MEMS, high-speed RF, and low-power radiation-hardened electronics.
Partial Cassettes & Single Wafers
Unlike major fabs that require bulk orders, we specialize in partial cassettes. You can order as few as one wafer for prototyping. We stock all standard diameters:
